Welcome to Keep it Sambal!

So glad you’ve come to check out the best food blog ever -absolutely no sarcasm here!

Why another food blog?

While I was living in Singapore in the the first half of 2017, I was being immersed in a wide variety of incredible food.   I’m a fairly adventurous eater and I’ve been exposed to lots of different food in my life but nothing quite as unique as what I experienced in Southeast Asia.  I was living in a food Mecca and everyday trying a new food I had never heard of or tasted before.

I created this blog as a way to share all this amazing food with you as I eat and travel the world.  I figured what better way to share my experiences than with a little B-LOG to give some background and little story behind the food pics.   I believe eating is just as much about the experience as the ingredients and so I’m excited to share my next meal with you!

I hope the blog inspires you to try out some new dishes at your local (insert favorite) restaurant and you learn something new about a different culture’s cuisine.  Or maybe you’ll just find it comical to hear what a crazy American has to say about “local” dishes!

Bon Appetit 🙂

Here are a few pics of some of my favorite meals I’ve tried so far.

Malaysian Lunch: Sambal Cuddlefish, Curry Mutton, Green beans and tofu.
Traditional Chinese breakfast – Noodles and fishballs, Kaya toast, and Kopi
Chinese dinner – pork rib herbal soup, minced meat with egg yolk, greens, and rice
Korean Fishball Soup. Yummy!
Singapore favorite – The Chili Crab!

And so much more!!

  • Fantastic! Why so many different types of food in Singapore

    • Singapore is a diverse melting pot of culture and ethnicities, with the majority being Chinese (75%), Malay (13%), and Indian (9%), but because these large populations have so many distinct sub cultures/ethnic groups e.g. Tamil and Bengali Indians, or Han and Yui Chinese, there is no shortage of different styles of cooking and food.
